Dear Anakin... Star Wars
Requiem,  The Blacklist 4x17 Worth Watching

EDIT: Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, I have to postpone these. I'm taking a short hiatus for the next week or so. Sorry, everyone! See you when I get back. Until then, keep reading! ^_^

 What I'm Reading:

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and
share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week.

Heartstone by Elle Katherine White
I am loving this. I just haven't been taking time to actually read it. :P

The Wonder by Emily Donoghue (audio)
This one is going so slow I might move on to something else for a while. It's interesting, I'm just not in the mood for it.

Star Wars: Clone Wars Vol 2: Victories and Sacrifices (comic)

 What I Read:

Not going to lie. It's been a slow-going reading week for me. :P

Star Wars: Clone Wars Vol 1: In Defense of Kamino

So I finally finished Sherlock Season 4. I say 'finished' because I actually watched the first episode pretty soon after it aired on PBS. AND I COULDN'T GO ON. I was so broken-hearted after that episode, I just couldn't move on to the next one. It was so sad and depressing and John was angry at Sherlock and... and...

But I finally moved on and I'm SO GLAD I did, because those last two episodes were absolutely amazing, story-wise, character-wise, but especially in further developing John and Sherlock's complicated and amazing relationship. Even better, the rest of the season also fleshed out and relieved some of the pangs from that first episode heartbreak so, while I'm still not totally over it, the show has at least saved itself from my everlasting ire.

It was absolutely amazing.

If YOU'RE a Sherlock fan, than you definitely need to check out Sherlock Season 4 Thoughts (Spoilers) over on my friend September C. Fawkes' blog. It is such a fangirl-fueled post, but she's one of the best I know at intelligent fangirling, gushing about developing relationships, subtext, character, and foreshadowing. Seriously. Check it out right now, because her fangirling only ever deepens my love and appreciation for shows I like. ^_^

 In Real Life

I finished my Camp NaNo goal of 15,000 words!

And you know what? It didn't help me get back into a regular writing routine at all. I kept procrastinating the actual writing part until the last minute and wound up battling for my last 3k a few hours before Camp ended last night. Which is not what I was going for at all.

So this next month I'm not giving myself a word count goal. Apparently that's not really helping to motivate me at all right now. Instead, I'm going to make myself for an hour every day. No matter how much or how little I write, I'm going to write -with no plotting, researching, or outlining- for at least one hour every day.

Because that last 3k I crammed in last night? It was horrible. But it was first draft stuff, so the important part is I wrote down 3k that wasn't actually a waste, that actually has good content and momentum, it just needs to be reworked. But because it wasn't perfect, because I didn't love it, I felt like a failure, and I battled with the sick dread that failure brings on for several hours last night. That's always fun. It made me realize that I have lost a step and gone back into the unhealthy place of being uncomfortable with first draft material, and that needs to stop. Right now.

So hopefully, the far side of next month, I will have written so much crappy first draft material, I will be comfortable with that phase of writing again.

Also, MY JAZZ ARE MOVING TO ROUND TWO IN THE PLAYOFFS!

Same as last week, actually. :P

The Lake House by Kate Morton
So many twists since last week! I have no theories at this point, I'm just a puppy following Morton through the story, waiting for the next big reveal. A puppy with heartache, too. =(

I've been staying up so late with other things, I haven't really gotten much farther with this yet.

THE NEW STAR WARS TRAILER DROPPED!

😍
Light...Darkness...The Balance...
Color me intrigued!

Gotta be honest, I love this teaser. It very nicely sets up the theme for the next film -and a whole ton of questions! I've always wanted to see more expansion on what the Force is (it's 'magic system', if you will) so I'm certainly curious!

But that last Skywalker line! What do you mean, THE LAST JEDI?! I mean, are you just giving up on the Jedi order, whatever there was that survived? Or is dear Luke suggesting the unsuggestionable? That the use of the Force by sentient beings should discontinue?!

Which brings me to what I didn't love, and that's Luke's depressing attitude. I mean, I get it; lots of bad stuff has happened, his apprentice/nephew turned to the Dark Side and (we guess) wiped out any other apprentices Luke managed to gather across the universe. But I'm not enjoying it. I hope something happens quick to put Luke back into action, whether he likes it or not.

More honesty, guys. Episode VIII is going to have to be EPIC -and I mean EPIC- to impress me. Episode VII got away with a lot as a return of the franchise, for bringing back so many familiar faces, and because it was the best Star Wars movie since RotJ. While I still enjoy VII, and I don't think it was a 'bad' movie, I'll admit some of the shine has started to wear off over the years, especially after Rogue One (which I would rank a better movie) and my continued treks into the Star Wars EU (mostly The Clone Wars and Rebels).

Also, Rey, Finn, and Poe better get more interaction together. It's kind of hard to be the new Star Wars trio of heroes if you never interact with each other.

What are your thoughts?

Isn't this Ewok adorable?! There's an Etsy shop called Lazy Blue Daisy Studios and they've got several Star Wars dolls just in time for May 4th. 😄

Thanks to Book Boyfriend Box:
I'm very eager to read this. *eyes TBR pile* Eventually.

New ARC:
I'm really interested to read this one! It's chock full of ancient Hawaiian folklore and *drum roll please* MAGIC! Not to mention, apparently, shark tamers and teenage surfer warriors.

 What I'm Reading:

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and
share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week.

The Lake House by Kate Morton
This is my book club read of the month and I am really, really enjoying it. It's just the kind of mystery I've been wanting to read. Full of dubious, well-written characters with their own secrets and a complicated story.

Lone Ranger/Green Hornet
An ARC graphic novel, whose title basically sums things up. ^_^

The Wonder by Emma Donoghue (audio)
Not my normal read, but booksaremyfavouriteandbest mentioned it on her Six Degrees of Separation post last week and how it features the deeply religious and superstitious beliefs of the rural Irish in 1850, which has ties to my current WIP, so I'm giving it a try. (I've also been tasked to relate the ending to my boss, who didn't get a chance to finish it. XD)

 What I Read:

 What's Next:

Geekerella by Ashley Poston ARC
And, hopefully, Heartstone by Elle Katherine White

Can I just say how AWESOMESAUCE my YouTube subscribers are?! I haven't been able to post videos regularly for almost a year, and the last one I posted was a good six months ago. Yet when I posted my Chocolat (Book vs Movie) I quickly got comments of jubilation from those most loyal people? Yep, they rock. ^_^

 In Real Life

I have been -and will continue- to play around with my new lighting equipment to get back into a regular video posting schedule. I'm so excited to get back into this!
Also, writing! Plotting! Character building! I discovered a ton of great character-related writing tips yesterday, so I want to do a post soon with a bunch of those links. Keep writing, fellow writers!

Thanks to Dad and the local thrift store:
He found it for a dollar -a dollar!- and passed it on to me, because he's awesome like that, and he already has a copy, and we both adore it. I can't even, guys; this is one of the best books I've ever read! (Check out my review of it here.) And I was just thinking it was time for a reread...

 What I'm Reading:

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and
share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week.

Rise of the Evening Star by Brandon Mull
My rereading of Fablehaven needs to speed up because a copy of Dragonwatch is already waiting for me at the library...

Heartless by Marissa Meyer (audio)
I'm having a little trouble with this one because the main character is starting to get on my nerves. I'm so close to finishing, though, I just need to suck it up and get it done.

The Death and Afterlife Book by James R. Lewis
So I admit, this one looks really random. Well it is. This is research for a WIP that I'm...not actually...working on...right now...

 What I Read:

I'm currently 2/17 for the books on my Take Control of Your TBR! Challenge.
Obviously I need to kick my reading up a notch.

Fablehaven by Brandon Mull (reread)

Airman by Eoin Colfer (reread)
Still love this book. <3 The book club discussion on this one has me wanting to read (and watch) The Count of Monte Cristo.

 Internet Shenanigans

I've been listening to a lot more YouTube artists recently -namely Jonathan Young and Peter Hollens- and I can't get enough of them.

The Plagues (Prince of Egypt) -Cover by Caleb Hyles and Jonathan Young
With Passover coming up soon, this has got me excited to rewatch Prince of Egypt. ^_^

But Peter Hollens new cover of 'The Sound of Silence' is AMAZING. If you liked Disturbed's cover of this a while back, you will likely love this one too.

 In Real Life

I took my sister to see SING for the second time. I adore that movie; it's fun, but it's an inspiring, 'feel good' flick too. When I got out, I bought myself a nice-ish set of headphones to practice piano like I've been telling myself I'll get around to eventually. And I discovered my keyboard has a metronome! That's going to come in handy. ^_^

 Random

I just started on season 6 of Star Wars: Clone Wars and, I've got to admit, much as I love Tim Curry, his voicing Emperor Palpatine is...random.

IMWAYR | January Wrap Up

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week.  It's a great post to organise yourself. It's an opportunity to visit and comment, and er... add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye's Blog   and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we are!

Okay, so this will be awesome because it's nearly as long of a list as the last time I posted one of these. You know that old adage, So Many Books, So Little Time? Yeah. Right here.

But before we get into that -Let's honor a little thing I call Corny Joke Monday!
Now on to the Wrap Up!

January Books and Reviews

The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden
4/5 stars | review posted Jan 26
Arden's debut novel about Russian folklore and fairy tales it's absolutely GORGEOUS. I gave this book 4/5 stars and can't wait for the two sequels promised by the author.
Check out my review for it!

Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson | Book Club Read
3.5/5 stars | review posted Feb 8
This isn't something I would have picked up for myself, but it was actually pretty good.
Full review coming Wednesday!

The Blacklist: The Beekeeper No. 159 by Steve Piziks

4/5 stars | review posted Feb 10
I'm always wary of tie-in novels because they tend to either be horrible or mediocre, but I could not resist a novel for The Blacklist. And this one is actually good!
Full review coming Friday!

A Darker Shade of Magic by V. E. Schwab | Audiobook

4/5 stars | PG-13 for swearing and sexual references
Schwab writes fascinating characters. Victor Vale and the rest of her Vicious cast completely captivated me and I'm glad to see it wasn't a fluke. Kell and Lilah are great dual main characters supported by a cast of equally interesting supporting characters, though I admit Kell is the more fascinating of the pair. I also love the worldbuilding and the magic system at play -a series of different Londons in different realities, some with and some without magic. I can't wait to read the next one.

One Punch: Vol 1 by ONE
3.5/5 stars | comics mini review wrap up to post Feb 13
I watched the first episode of the anime awhile back and I thought it was hysterical. My sister discovered our library carries the manga, so I snagged it from her.

February Reads

It's going to be another full month of reading because I hit the library again.

I'm almost finished with this one! I had to switch from audio to book because the discs were damaged, which is why it's taking longer. :P

High priority ARC read!

I'm maybe...a quarter of the way through this? I also had to switch from the audio to the book, so there's no guarantee I can finish it. :P

Gotta confess, I've already started this and I love it. ^_^

My current audiobook. We'll see how far I get before I can't renew it.

And because I'm a glutton for punishment, I went crazy with my library card again...

I ADORE her book Wildwood Dancing and can't believe it's taken me so long to try another of her works.

Confession: I've read the first three pages of this book a few times already and have never been compelled to go farther. I'm trying it again because it's a friend's favorite and, in case you hadn't noticed, I'm in a Beauty and the Beast retelling mood.

So far, my satisfaction with this series has been fair to middling. I keep reading them because they keep getting a little better, the twists a little more interesting -and this one sounds like it's going to be the BEST YET. *crosses fingers*

I'm going to be honest. I didn't even list all the books I've got piled up right now. These are just the ones I most hope to get through this month.

Bonus! What I'm Watching:
Do you even need to ask?

What are YOU reading right now?
